Emergency Plumbing
Checklist
In a plumbing crisis, every second counts. Follow these steps immediately to protect your home from expensive water damage.
(949) 990-33871. Shut Off the Water
Locate your main water shut-off valve immediately. Turning this clockwise will stop the flow of water to your entire home and prevent further flooding.
2. Turn Off the Water Heater
If you've shut off the main water supply, turn off your water heater to prevent it from overheating or bursting due to lack of water.
3. Open Your Faucets
After shutting off the main valve, open the lowest faucets in your home (like an outdoor hose bib) to drain the remaining water out of the pipes.
4. Address Small Leaks
If you can safely reach the leak, use towels or a bucket to contain the water. For pipe cracks, a piece of rubber and a C-clamp can provide a temporary fix.
5. Call a Professional
Once the immediate danger is contained, call Applied Plumbing & Rooter. We dispatch emergency technicians 24/7 across Orange County.
Safety First
If you smell gas, see sparks, or if the water has reached electrical outlets, DO NOT enter the area. Evacuate your home immediately and call emergency services.
